5 Easy & Healthy Energy Boosting Snacks

It was hard finding healthy snacks that satisfied both my taste buds and my need for energy throughout the day.  Over the years, I experimented with everything from varieties of yogurt to homemade granola bars.  But, I soon realized that the 5 foods below were the healthiest, easiest and quickest fixes for a boost of energy during the work day!  This is not breaking news, but just a subtle reminder to add these fabulous five to your snacking rotation, if you haven’t already.

1. Hard Boiled Eggs

The world’s most underrated and powerful food.  These inexpensive goodies are packed with tons of protein and vitamins.  One boiled egg can help reboot your energy levels and keep you full until your next meal.

Tip: Boil eggs in advance, peel and store in the refrigerator for easy and healthy snacking!

 

2. Almonds

These easy to carry snacks are not only high in protein, fiber and healthy fats, but also will give you the energy you need during a midday slump.

Tip: Keep a bag or jar close by your work area so you have a go-to snack anytime you need it!

 

3. The Fantastic Four: Apples – Bananas – Blueberries – Oranges 

There’s no denying that fruits give you more energy and nutrients than any other sweet treat.  Bursting with fiber and vitamins, these fantastic four are your safest bet for guaranteed fuel during a sluggish day.

Tip: Sprinkle slices of apples and bananas with muscle fueling honey or hearty almond butter for those extra long days!  And, always keep fruit washed, stored and ready to eat!

 

4. Spinach

Loaded with vitamins and minerals, it’s no surprise that this leafy miracle is one of the healthiest foods you can eat.  Whether in a salad or by itself, go heavy on the spinach to increase the pep in your step!

Tip: Make a high power turkey-spinach-wrap minus the nap inducing tortilla: 1) take a few turkey slices, 2) spread a spoon of wholesome hummus over the slices, 3) pile spinach on top, 4) roll up the slices and chow down!

 

5. Water

Water intake is directly related to your body’s level of energy.  Drinking more water will increase your energy while making you resistant to unhealthy snacking.

Tip: Add lemon, berriesmint or cucumbers to liven up your water.  It also helps to keep a jug or marked bottle near you during the day as a gentle reminder to drink up!
